When you look at Valeria Montoya and Ryan Towner, you can see that they are so completely in love with each other and their wedding day reflected that love to their family and friends. The day began on December 16, 2018 at the Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club, a prestigious hotel near Duke University, who first opened its doors in 1988. The room was beautiful and the staff accommodated every need of the bridal party. Vale got all her bridesmaids matching pajamas, so we captured some photos before everyone got dressed. Jackie More with Jackie Moore Designs styled the bride's hair into a beautiful up-do that would last the entire day. Jackie was professional and so much fun to work with! While the bride was getting her hair done, I took a few of the bridesmaids down to the lobby that was decorated beautifully for Christmas. When we got back to the room, the bride was putting on her dress and the bridal party joined in to help fasten her dress and make sure that it was perfect. It was a touching moment when the mother of the bride fastened the brides necklace and then pulled Vale in for a warm embrace. We photographed this beautiful bride in the room and also in the lobby area. We had just a few moments to get a few photos in front of the hotel before it was time to go to the venue!
We arrived at the historic Top Of The Hill Restaurant and Brewery (TOPO) and made our way to the Great Room. When the bride's father saw his beautiful daughter for the first time, you could see the love and pride he had for his daughter shining on his face. Vale had tears in her eyes as her father embraced her.
Ryan and his groomsmen took their place at the alter that Ryan had built for this beautiful wedding day. One by one, the bridesmaids made their way down the aisle, and then Vale appeared on her father's arm. Ryan's face beamed joy and love as he viewed his bride in her dress for the first time. After the vows were said and the rings exchanged, they were pronounced man and wife and then there was the kiss! While the guests went to cocktail hour, the family and bridal party stayed in the Great Room area for photos. We then went outside to photograph the bridal party on the street and in front of the Methodist Church on the historic Franklin Street in Chapel Hill.
When we returned, Laura Wells, the Event Coordinator at TOPO let us know that the reception was set up. The tables were beautiful with elegant centerpieces of wood and a vases with candles created by the bride and groom. The bride also painted pinecones to use as card holders for the tables. Laura and the TOPO staff were so wonderful, making sure that every detail of Vale and Ryan's wedding was perfect and exactly what they envisioned for their perfect day.
Ted Bilodeau, the DJ with Complete Weddings and Events, got the reception started with an introduction of the bridal party and then the bride and groom. The first dance was so loving and warm as the couple held each other smiling and talking to one another. After the bride danced with her father and the groom danced with his mother and stepmother, lunch was served to all the guests.
After lunch, Ted got the reception party hopping! This group loved the music and lights and danced for hours! The bride and groom cut their cake and toasts were given by the bride's father and sister as well as other friends and family members. Ryan toasted all his family and friends as well as his beautiful bride, Vale.
